Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance
The focus of the Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) group spans from methods to clinical applications of novel imaging and spectroscopy approaches. Engineering principles are used to devise signal enhancement, signal encoding and decoding strategies as well as physical modeling to enable improved sensitivity, increased efficiency and novel contrast mechanisms. Recent key research achievements have been methods to hyperpolarize metabolically active compounds by orders of magnitude, highly accelerated imaging methods employing massive data undersampling, encoding schemes to probe tissue microstructure in the presence of physiological motion and novel blood flow mapping methods allowing the assessment of energy efficiency of the cardiovascular system non-invasively.
